WLS BOARD MEETINGS:  

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The World Learner School is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors manages the World Learner School under a contract with Independent School District 112. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 120.064 (Subd. 4(c)), the majority of the Board must be comprised of licensed teaching staff of the World Learner School. Board members are elected for the next school year in an open election held during the annual May meeting of all parents and staff members.

The Board´s meetings are on our school calendar . The WLS board meetings are generally held the fourth Monday of each month. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm at World Learner School with a Parent Forum at 6:15 pm. See below for Open Forum Policies. Finance Committee meetings are also posted on the school calendar.

OPEN FORUM POLICY
Each World Learner School board meeting includes an OPEN FORUM at 6:15 p.m. which provides WLS parents and visitors the opportunity to communicate comments and questions to the board of directors during a board meeting. It is organized as follows:

1. OPEN FORUM will be an agenda item listed after MINUTES.

2. The OPEN FORUM will be allowed a maximum of 15 minutes and will be monitored by a timekeeper.

3. Parents wishing to ask the board members questions are asked to submit them in writing to the board one week prior to the meeting.

4. During OPEN FORUM preference will be given to issues submitted on time and placed on the agenda. Comments and questions which have not been submitted in advance will be heard as time permits.

5. Visitors are allowed to participate in the board meeting only during OPEN FORUM, with the exception of visitors who are listed to give a report or presentation on another agenda item.

6. If a WLS parent or visitor has a comment or question during the board meeting and after the OPEN FORUM he/she is encouraged to either discuss it with a board member after the meeting, email a board member or write it down and submit it for discussion at the next board meeting.
